Wrong-way crash leaves taxi driver dead

A catastrophic wrong-way collision on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles took place early on Friday. The crash has tragically led to the death of one person, leaving three others with severe injuries.

Authorities received a barrage of 911 calls just after 3 a.m., alerting them to a woman driving southbound in a dark Chevrolet Cruze on the northbound lanes of the freeway. The reckless journey culminated in a brutal head-on collision with an oncoming taxi near the Exposition Boulevard exit.

Emergency services arriving at the chaotic scene discovered multiple individuals entrapped in the wreckage. In a desperate bid to rescue the trapped victims, first responders deployed the a hydraulic rescue tool to extricate four individuals from the twisted metal.

Sadly, the taxi driver succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. His passenger was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

The reason behind the woman’s hazardous wrong-way driving remains unclear at this point.

The aftermath of the incident led to a significant disruption in traffic. A SigAlert was in effect for several hours before it was lifted around 6 a.m.
