(ConservativeStar.com) – As the COVID-19 pandemic goes into its third year, the mark it’s left on Americans is more than palpable. Draconian restrictions, coronavirus-related mandates, school closures, and the like have worn the public’s patience to the breaking point. However, a faint flicker of a ray of hope could be lurking around the corner in the form of a possible change in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements.
On Wednesday, February 16, media outlets reported that the CDC could loosen its indoor masking recommendations within the next week to 10 days. According to Newsmax, the agency is considering a new benchmark standard regarding the necessity to wear masks.

Reportedly, the CDC will base the new guidance on the level of severe infections and hospitalization in communities to determine the need for masking requirements. The news comes as the Omicron variant begins winding down across the United States. Several states have already either eliminated mask requirements or set dates in the near future as new infections related to COVID-19’s dominant strain started waning in recent weeks.
So far, neither the White House nor the CDC has responded to media requests for information regarding the rumored change.
What do you think? Do you plan to quit masking up once the CDC or your local government sound the all-clear?
