Criminal on the run after causing deadly shooting at Motel 6

GAINESVILLE, GA – A desperate search is underway for a Gainesville man accused of a violent fatal shooting at a local Motel 6 on Friday afternoon. Gainesville Police responded to an emergency call from Monroe Drive’s Motel 6 shortly after 2:30 pm. At the scene, authorities found a male victim who suffered from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim of the shooting was quickly rushed to a local hospital. After arriving, he succumbed to his injuries and lost his life. The victim’s identity has not yet been disclosed.

Corey Maurice Rucker, a Gainesville resident, was swiftly identified as a suspect in the homicide, according to police. The authorities believe Rucker was acquainted with the victim, contributing to a speedy identification process.

Rucker is currently facing charges of felony murder and aggravated assault. Charges also include possessing a firearm as a felon and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. Additionally, he has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

Police report that Rucker fled the crime scene before their arrival and is suspected to be driving a burgundy Nissan Murano with a Mississippi license plate.
