(ConservativeStar.com) – Before former President Donald Trump ever took the oath of office, Democrats and “never Trump” Republicans have tried to undo the (as they see it) horrendous blemish on American history. Newly sworn-in President Joe Biden wasted no time in using his pen to try and erase as much of his legacy as possible through a series of executive orders (EO).
Immigrants and Immigration
Of the 17 EOs Biden put in place in his first afternoon in the Oval Office, several of them dealt with people coming across the border and those already here. He put former President Barack Obama’s policy known as the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program back in full force. The program gives legal status to immigrants who were brought to the US illegally as children.
He also took action to make sure that illegal immigrants will be included in the 2020 Census count, which means people who aren’t even supposed to be in this country must still be counted towards the appropriation of federal money and representation in Congress. And, the wall that President Trump authorized to try to curb illegal incursions across our southern border has come to a screeching halt.
Treaties and Other Agreements
President Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris Agreement on climate change because he recognized the inherent unfairness of what the Obama administration has gotten the country into. Some Republicans are calling for him to follow the Constitution and submit the treaty to the Senate under the “advise and consent clause” which was skipped the first time around.
In another reversal, the country will resume funding of the World Health Organization (WHO), which was cut because the group seemed to do nothing but parrot the misinformation spread by China in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic. It makes one wonder why the new administration is so eager to send billions of dollars to the institution before determining just how much influence Communist China has over it.
These are but a few of the orders put in place and many of them are not in the best interests of America but are rather used in the promotion of the Left’s agenda. Apparently, that was just the first wave of Biden’s executive actions; we can only imagine what he has in store for us next.
