NYFD Now Fighting Fires — and De Blasio

(ConservativeStar.com) – Firefighters have one of the toughest jobs in the world. When everyone is running out of burning buildings, they risk their lives rushing in to help. Sadly, fires may soon get the upper hand in New York City, as Mayor Bill de Blasio (D-NY) enforces a vaccine mandate on the NYFD, giving them a choice to either take the COVID-19 inoculation or face unpaid leave.

Since non-compliance would affect about 20% of fire companies and result in 20% fewer ambulances operating in the city, it’s the people of the Big Apple who will likely pay the dangerous price.

Andrew Ansbro, head of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, has no intention of laying off these heroes. He’s forcing the department and the city to do the dirty work because he refuses to play with citizens’ lives by potentially putting them in peril.

On October 28, many union members took to the streets in front of the mayor’s mansion protesting the mandate and displaying “My Body My Choice” on their picket signs. They feel betrayed by the threat of dismissal since they risked everything to serve during the pandemic.

Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro assures the public that the department will use every resource necessary to keep people safe despite the potential drop in firefighters.

Now that the deadline has passed, the ball is in the Democratic mayor’s court. Is he going to make the city suffer?
